Meru Puri

If you love shôjo manga like I do, you have got to check this out.  The first issue was funny, romantic and sweet.  Just the way shôjo should be.  I loved it.  It focuses on Ari, a marriage minded high school freshman who has the most unrealistic ideals about love on the planet. 

Via an heirloom mirror of Ari's enter Aram a little boy, who because of a magic spell becomes a teenager at night.  Aram confeses his love for Ari-which leaves her a bit confused.  Is she a pedophile?  Things start to get really crazy when Aram's older brother, the one who cast the spell shows up and declares his love for her too.  :p

The book started in Japan in 2001.  The author was inspired by the success of LOTR and HP.  She wanted to write a "magical boy series".  Her editor, suggested she have multiple boys instead of just one.  One of the her proposed titles was "The Four Idiots" and after you meet the guys, you'll see why.

There's a link to Neil Gaiman's Blog on my left bar over there. Do click it.  ^_^  I fell in love with his work when he was doing Sandman, a cool dark comic book series in the nineties.  But, lately he's had lots of success writing young adult fiction. 

Anyway, I recently found out that he and his longtime comics collaborator Dave Mckean have created a film with the Jim Henson Company-in the tradition of the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.

I am so excited I could piss myself.  It looks amazing.

The above link has an old  press release with a link to the film site.  Currently the full script and storyboards are available in a hardcover book.  I saw it in Borders today.
